Yep......interested?
Send me an email if you'd like. A little about yourself, your experience, location, what kinda dog you got, favorite circular saw, anything you think may interest me. Let me know about what you're looking for for $ to make sure we're in the same ballpark.
Dude today told me he wanted $30/hr cash.....didn't care that I carried comp or paid taxes. Not my type I guess.
Hope I hear from you,

Whew! did he mean cash as in no 1099?

I didn't really get that far with him Piff, but I'm guessing that is what he was looking for. I don't really have any interest in having an un-insured framer on my sites, so the conversation pretty much ended there. Besides, even if he was a true sub (an electrican or roofer say) there's no way I'd be handing over a fist full of green backs each week and not leaving a paper trail for the 1099.
Attitude is everything to me (as I said in my original post). This guy had plenty of attitude.....just not the kind I was looking for. ;)
I'm really struggling (with myself) to try to make this thing work "above the board". As I'm sure you know, it ain't easy. I've come this far and am not going to take a step backwards without a fight. I don't care how good this kid may have been, I can't afford to pay the $30/hr, carry the comp, and then eat the taxes on that cash. Just not in the cards right now.

!!!!! yeah on a good day with a following wind and one of those computer toll thingys!!! LOL
If you have anything to do in Houston, notify me,I'll be glad to cash your "notes" in my free business checking acct! and take the "W-C" also! me and my partner go for an averaged $26 per man-hour, and we set our own hours, goals and pre-bid our work as contracts. Were business-men, covered in saw-dust ,gypsum and caulk...

You sound more like a sub than an employee, but thanks. Don't make it to Houston much (ever) anywho. Paying subs $26/hr isn't an issue. In fact I wish I could get 'em that cheap. Paying an employee $30 cash and carrying the WC, liability, taxes, etc is out of the question.
Ok BUT if you do get down here that's per man-hour with my helper...

Do employees where you are have their own air comprs.,nail guns, aside from just a nail pouch and many times a tiny car(no truck) because they don't want to haul anything?

Wasn't there another thread where you mentioned $40/hr or am I confusing you with somebody else?
Welcome to the Taunton University of Knowledge FHB Campus at Breaktime. where ... Excellence is its own reward!
That was me. $40.00 bucks an hour. No tools, I don't carry plywood, if it's too hot I don't come in and if it's too cold I aint coming in either. I leave for happy hour at three o'clock sharp, and if it turns into a real "Happy hour" I'll be late the next day. I don't have a helper or partner, so I'll have to re train yours to work with me. I think that's about it in a nutshell. I'll make up more as I think of it.Who Dares Wins.
You must have forgotten that you don't 'do' insulation, either.
;^}
That's a fact jack.Who Dares Wins.
If I had said $40, It would have been relative to myself, without my helpers cost averaged with my own cost. I estimate for my contracts by averaged MAN-HOUR cost, of course with other necessary burdens included...Contact me at [email protected] ,and I'll share...
Only if they look like this.Who Dares Wins.
That would be the beginning of the end for me......
Be going to hell in bucket.....but at least I'd be enjoying the ride!
