I feel guilty now. Teach me a lesson and don't enter, it'll improve my odds :)

Bosch Digital Laser Rangefinder Kit
Model DLR165K
Is this the model you have?
Give me a description on your likes, dislikes and ease of use please.
I've been fitting new door slabs to existing openings. Would I be able to shoot these distances by holding it inside the jamb? I realize I'd have to adjust these measurements according to what my level tells me it's out of whack.
thanks.

Sorry. I completely forgot about this.
I have the Hilti PD-40 laser distance meter. I never used it for fitting doors, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. It's accurate down to 1/64", but I don't usually have it set for that kind of accuracy.
I've used mine mostly for measuring crown. It makes getting the length very easy and quick. Also, I've used it to measure rooms for making materials lists. Hold it on one wall, and shoot the measurement. No climbing across furniture to get a measurement. Or catching the end of the tape on something. Mine will also save several measurements, and can calculate the square footage of a space.
Mine is quite easy to use. Push one button to turn it on, hold the unit against the wall, and push another button to take the measurement.
They are handy gadgets, but they are also not completely necessary. Yeah, its a lot easier using one of these than trying to make long measurements using a tape by yourself. But they are a little sensitive to getting banged around, and you have to remember to take the batteries out if its going to sit for a while.
If you have more questions, you'll have to wait. We're leaving on vacation tomorrow to visit my MIL, and won't be back until the day after Thanksgiving. I might even try to get a round of golf in while we're away. I'll be happy to continue then.
Have a good Thanksgiving.
There's a newer model that has running inches. (That one you referenced doesn't, in case that matters to you)http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-DLR130K-Digital-Distance-Measurer/dp/B001U89QBUFWIW, there have been a handful of threads about LDMs over at JLC recently. I don't think there are any real dogs in the bunch, but it's the little things that set some of them off from the pack. Slightly better accuracy (not a biggie for framing, but it might matter for crown), backlit displays, number of stored measurements (I've never found more than 6 or 7 useful, but that might just be me), angle features, etc.If you work alone (as I think you do, mostly), I'll bet after a week you wonder how you got along without it.The last thing I can tell you is that they are accurate. And a dummy like me has to keep reminding himself that the blocking I just measured out at 14 3/32" ought to be cut at 14" unless I want to pound it in with a sledge. You're smart enough not to have that problem, I'll wager.'Man who say it cannot be done should not interrupt man doing it' ~ Chinese proverb
