I had a simple return this year so I went back to H&R Block, to use their free federal income tax software.
Thumbs up! Very quick and easy to use. My E-filed return was accepted by the IRS within 24hrs. www.hrblock.com
Anyone else have a report about free on-line tax software, good or bad?

not sure what you mean by simple, but mine was simple and I used the IRS software. it is only a fill in the form type, with limited forms. but it went easy. only difficulty was in filling in a 1099, the blocks for city, state, zip were not identified so it was bounced the first time. turn around on both submissions was less than 12 hours, although they say can take 48 hrs (IIRC)

not sure what you mean by simple,
In this case I meant that it was easy to understand and follow the step by step procedure.
I've used several free file web sites in the past, always going first to the IRS web site for referals. None of them has been as simple and well presented as the current H&R Block offering.
Here is a report from a local TV station about the different "free" files. And some of them cost a bit if you needed state or some forms.http://www.nbcactionnews.com/news/local/story/Tax-Software-For-Less-Than-10/hkS48o5RnUKV72-7unR61A.cspx#http://www.centralmediaserver.com/kshb/html/cfa_090309/cfa_090309_excel-base.htm.
