OH MAN, That is rugged.
At least you'all were smiling when the day was over.
We just finished up with some -20 to -30 degrees far. wind chill these last few days and I promise you nobody was smiling at the end of the day.
But like you say it pays for the pizza!

Which one is you, or are you the one taking the picture?
I looked at the picture before I read the text. What I thought I saw was a lot more grim (as in stinky) than "we just finished pouring stem walls " :-)
Now THAT'S a crew! That's what you're supposed to look like at the end of a winter's day - smiles and all.
I have been fortunate this year in the fact that I really have a winning team this year
this is one the best crew I have had, we all work together really well. and for the past few months I cant remember anyone going home grumpy, except me ( I'm the gc , you know the one who deals with the headaches)
one of my biggest fears these days is the economy and being able to keep the work coming in to keep everyone with me for what's left of the winter
we all know how easy it is for a person to jump ship when things are slow
another one of us took the picture, but he was cleaner, he didn't do much due to an earlier injury, so he just kept everything running smooth and bs-ing with the concrete guys, (we had 120 feet of house just to the nearest corner of the house and the pumpers remote wasn't working well on the back side )
we have a couple of part timers who are anxious to join full time, when work load permits, good guys too
I'm the guy in the orange,
I have worked with guys like that. I still have a picture of the four of us relaxing on top of a truss bracket near the top of the Queensboro Bridge. It's amazing how much quicker and better a job gets done when the crew clicks....that's not a mistake, it's rustic
It's one of the best parts of being a carpenter.
can we see the picture
im sure it is a good one whenever you see people enjoying their work

I'll have to try and dig through the boxes for a copy to scan. I have a framed one hanging over my desk in the office. Although I do not miss this weather, I miss my days out of the office. We used to watch falcons hunt, and there is always at least one exhibitionist living within view of the bridges in NYC....that's not a mistake, it's rustic
Looks like a good group ..
I stole a line from a buddy ... sounds like you caould use it too ...
"I will tolerate no disention on the job site!"
Other wise translated ... all smiles or go home!
My helper even told the drywall crew to shut up and stop bitching ...
as he was humping in about 3000lbs of flooring!
Told them if they weren't having fun just go home and shoot themselves ....
Ya gotta have fun .. otherwise ya realise too quick this kinda work sorta sucks?

I always believed that "you can tell how hard a man works by how dirty he gets." Looks like you guys worked real hard!
looks like you guys got yellow and orange paint on your nice bew brown raingear.
dogboy
You know, sometimes I get to thinking that I should just buy every item of clothing in a mud brown color.
They all end up that way, anyway.
Youse guys may get mud seasons, but you really don't know what mud is. I deal with it year round.
; )
Posting at Breaktime should not be a full contact sport.

It doesn't get any better than when you work with guys who have heart....miles and miles of heart.
Good for you! You're all smiling.
Nothing like a hot shower after playing in the mud all day...............
Now be honest........did you wash your rain gear and hang it up to dry?...........Or did you have to put those cold ,muddy, clamy, things back on the next day?
