First and last one of them I saw was at the funny farm, under that gravel. I saved a bunch of them hand cut copper tacks, accents on furniture some day.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Thanks Walter, keep 'em coming. Did you say how long that canvas had lasted?I had '47 Chevy "woodie" that had a canvas top... and it out lasted the wooden doors.I've also got a canvas skinned kayak school project that floated for at least 10 years... coulda used a little copper on the keel, though<G>http://www.tvwsolar.com
We'll have a kid
Or maybe we'll rent one
He's got to be straight
We don't want a bent one
He'll drink his baby brew

Someday he may be president
If things loosen up
"how long that canvas had lasted?"can depend on maintanance - it was oil based deck paint that kept it up. That and how well they kept tree debris off and snow/ice cleaned I tore off one that had three layers of canvas that had been applied one over a total of about 85 years. Had evidence that one section where a valley from above dumped onto it, that had had the wood decking/sheathing under it replaced once as a patch. When I got on this one it was pretty frayed at the edges, having been pretty much ignored for 5-10 yearsOn another one that I tore off, it had just been done with canvas ten yeaars before and was really bad. I think they'd had it applied and then never touched it again after that. It is a type of thing that takes yearly attention.

Those things can be one heck of a doodble to tear off with all the hundreds of small nails. There have been some where instead of tarpaper under them, they used wet oil paint to glue it to the deck to start with.
I have installed a couple, where the owners wanted it done "the old way", so I put I&W down first, then the canvas.

I am home today if you want to call home number
I did get your message and tried to call that evening at about 8:15 or so, just got his answering machine.
Anyways, it is now starting to look like there was a doubled booking reservation for rent of that manlift. The owner has it going to another party on monday, then back to my job the following week.
I have to try confirming all this by phone with masons and lift owner this weekend. Classic communications baffle. I'll call your phone when I know.
