Hi guys,
Have a question for handymen, remodelers, plumbers, builders, anybody who has used a frostproof etc.
I would like to put frost proof spigots on the front and back of my house. I have brick over studs in the back, and brick over block in the front.
My question is in drilling through the masonry for the spigot how do I fasten it to the wall? This seems like a stupid question but in looking at the spigots, if I drill a hole big enough to slip the spigot through (they have a male adapter built on to the end) that’s going to be a pretty big hole, and if I turn around and drill 2 smaller holes close to the bigger hole for tapcons or screw anchors of some sort that brick is just going to chip out. I guess what I am trying to say is that the flange isn’t very big. How do you guys handle this. Is there a trick to mounting these things, do they make a plate or other type of flange or anything to make attachment any easier to brick or masonry?
Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks

I'd just mix a bit of mortar and pack it around the spigot nice and tight. When the mortar is hardened I'd screw down the spigot.
