Update: I’m no longer looking, landed a great job installing custom staircases. Thanks for all the offers (didn’t get a single one >:o( ), but I’m now spoken for. Wooohoooo! :o)
I’m currently remodeling a kitchen by myself. I don’t want to hire help, and for that matter I don’t want to run the business. When I’m done with this project in about 4 weeks I would like to go to work for a well established high-end contractor. I have a 2003 Astro Cargo Van and all professional tools. I live on the north side so the work would have to be north side or the north shore suburbs.
I’m 47, clean cut and punctual. Mostly I’m a carpenter but I’ve rolled up my sleeves for most types of work. I can work from architectural drawings or sketches on napkins, makes no difference to me. I do excellent trim work and quick, accurate framing. I also do fantastic tilework. You can see some of my work at www.TedsCarpentry.com, but that’s just a small sampling.
I’ve been thinking about this (working for someone else) for a while now, but finally decided today when I was finishing up the cabinets. The client was working in his office and didn’t want any noise, like my radio. I could actually hear the clock ticking – like working in a freakin’ mortuary! I have several jobs lined up after this one, but will gladly pass them up to work on a real jobsite. I need to work with a crew.
I’m seeking a full time position. Pay is negotiable, the important thing is getting in with an established company. High-end work is a must! If you or your clients buy cabinets at Menards, don’t bother. But I’d be an asset to any company which deals with clients who can afford to be picky.

Here's the kitchen I'm currently working on...
The opening is new. I did all the framing, drywall and cabinets. I could have done the floors, which are new, but in this case someone else did. Demolition, elec & plumbing, counters are also subbed out.
I'm also going to do a tile backsplash and replace the hollow doors throughout the house with panel doors. And yes, they will fit perfect! We're also discussing trim around the arched opening - there are 2 besides this one that I did.

You were right G80104. I will start training as a custom stair installer as soon as I finish the kitchen project I'm working on, about 4 weeks. It's a real high-end outfit and I couldn't ask for a better situation. Life is good! :o)--------------------------------------------------------
