this house is over 100 years old in Bellevue Wa, near Microsoft and is surrounded by McMansions. It is a beautifully designed house inside and out. The homeowner has restored nearly all of it replacing only what couldn’t be saved. Not particularly due to cost but a desire to keep to the original design. He disassembled the staircase with the thought of rebuilding himself and then changed is mind. I took the job thinking it would probably be the only chance I would get to do dovetailed balusters. I inherited a pile of old balusters with no idea where they came from (including the broken ones), new treads and a picture of what it used to looked like. We turned 8 missing balusters and reassembled the rest. It was a lot of fun, I’m doing the other 2 staircases so I’ll take some more pics of the finished job.
