Larry – – American Standard products are manufactured by The Trane Company and Bryant products are manufactured by Carrier Corporation. Each corporation has an excellent reputation for building quality products and, from a quality standpoint, either system will be fine. I have Bryant in my house having just removed a 26 year old Bryant furnace last Fall. I survey several million square feet of facilities each year for energy analysis and a/c replacement projects and the Trane and Carrier units are very durable products where sometimes others fail.
The primary consideration when selecting which way to go is usually the selection of the contractor. If both of these guys are in the dealer networks of their respective maufacturers, then they’ve probably had to meet some general quality standards themselves and will provide a good job. However, get several references and call them before making your selection. Remember, it’s your house and you want a concractor that will respect that and provide customer oriented services. Also, identify what, if any options and the unit efficiencies that are being provided with each unit. Just make sure that you are comparing apples to apples on the written quotations from each contractor. One contractor may be a bit higher in price for a good reason.

I am comparing 2 bids that are equal from 2 different HVAC subs, one is recommending American Standard furnaces and air conditioners, the other is recommending Bryant. Any opinions out there regarding pros and cons of these units is appreciated. Thanks.
