i want to fur out over the top of subway tile 3/4 ” on three sides of a 42″ by 48″ shower.
it has studs, greenrock, durarock, thinset and subway tiles. i am puting 1/4″ solid surface material and with the new pan i have to fur out. if i attach to studs does this sound feasible.
i really don”t want to remove the tile as i will have to fur out that much more

Exactly how much do you need to reduce the space to fit the new shower pan? By 'fur out' I assume you don't literally mean to use wood firing, but could use other material.
other question is how do you intend to attach the 1/4" to your new "walls" - you may want to thin set it to the existing tile and sort of "bend/fair out" the bottom edge to the pan
usually better to tear things out to the studs and start over with new walls
