We have an older 2 story home and would like to add some visual curb appeal to it’s shoe-box look (see the photo with the gray house). The idea would be to add 1×2 furring strips or something similar to the plank siding to give the look of the siding in the photo with the rocking chair. I’d also want to add a Hardi board trim molding 1×8 or wider to the half way point of the 1st/2nd floor to break up the height. And add some stone veneer inside the front door area.
Is there anything I should be thinking of in terms of nailing or construction gluing the trim and 1×2 strips to the existing siding? Any water draining considerations? If everything is caulked properly?
