Gable end addition with 2×10 joist floor

The original 1961 house has 2×6 floor and rim joist fully supported by block foundation.
Can I hang the new 2×10 nailer (rim) on the existing 2×6 rim
safely and legally?
the only thing supporting the new 2×10 rim would be the carriage bolts going thru
the existing 2×6.
if this isn’t acceptable what would be?
