gable overhangs

Twin 20/12 gables break main 14/12 house roof. They overhang by 18″ over new porch with 6/12 pitch. I need to trim and terminate the overhangs (roof, facia, soffit) on top of porch roof. Both house and porch have architectural shingles. Flash? Cut short? Any advice and tips on the best looking, most weather proof junction would be greatly appreciated.
