Greetings…I’m have to build a post/beam gable roof entry over a patio. This is not in conditioned space…just an entry roof.
located in zone 2 ( hot, humid) about 1/4 mile from the ocean. Metal roof on top of rafters….finished t&g on bottom of rafters.
so…the question…..I’m concerned about mold on the enclosed rafters and wondering if I shout use PT. Also the horizontal beams
wil be warped with finished stained cedar. How about PT throughout the entire project…..except the back primed cedar finish wrap.
thanks

I'm in hot, humid south Florida so I always use PT on any exterior construction. I don't see any reason for you not to use it but it will get mold and mildew just like any wood will. It just won't rot as quickly.
