Does anyone have a location where I could find plans to build a gambrel roof? Or has anyone done one? Thanks

Brian;
A gambrel roof is generaly a combination of a mansard and a pitched roof used together in one roof system. The mansard part, or lower portion of the roof system rests on the outside wall plates of the first story, and extends to the top of the second story wall plates. The top part of the gambrel roof system is a low pitched extention from the second story wall plates to the ridge board in the middle of the structure. If your application needs all of the space to be clear spanned from the fist floor wall plates to the ridge board, then what you will need will be a truss. It is a simple frame job if you just treat each portion of the span as its own entity.
