Gaps in mitered corners for window and door casing-caulk or filler?

I have looked on this forum, different sites, and even asked at SW and BM paint stores.
The consensus is still split 50/50-
Should I use wood filler or caulk to fill gaps in mitered trim, where the corners meet?
(I know they could/should look better…but an apprentice has to learn somewhere)

Really depends on your environment and how humidity changes during the seasons. If there is movement then use caulk with a sponge to smooth things and then paint.
Wood filler just cracks as the wood moves. 100% use chalk, it has more flexibility
