I am building a ranch for retirement. It is in a 3 acre lot in Michigan, Detroit area. This is my 2nd home and last build. It is a 2200 sq ft walkout ranch. I have a 3 car attached garage 24×36 wide with a 9 ft high wall on one end and back wall. The other side a 5 ft deep wall. I have some big rocks in the bottom of the floor. Was wondering what would be the best and easiest fill to use. I have heard different thoughts, crushed stones, gravel, sand? I will not be able to compact it till it’s at the 5 ft level since there are rocks and clay in areas. Wanting a good fill to support garage floor.

Are you saying you need to fill a space 24 x 36 that ranges from 5-9 ft deep?
at 7 ft deep that would be over 6,000 cubic feet of fill. 224 yards.
If the other side of the 9 ft wall is open to the air, you want to make sure it is up to the task. it needs to be sized and designed as a retaining wall.
You might find a good price on crushed recycled concrete. Your local supplier also might have recommendations on which product they would recommend for this application.
The 9ft tall side wall of the garage is a retaining wall. There is dirt against all of the outside walls. The back wall has 30 ft of length that is part of a basement wall. Most of this back wall is 9ft tall. Looking for answers for best fill to do. Thank u for your answer
