We have some cabins that are well off the grid, and so historic we can’t install solar panels and led lighting.
Someone is stating that the gas lights need to have a minimum of 9-inches of clearance from the ceilings in the rooms.
I’ve done a quick code check and can’t find anything on the subject in the IRC or IBC.
Does anyone know of a source for code requirment for mounting LPG lamps?
Thanks, Jigs

As you have already found, the fuel gas code doesn't specifically address the installation requirements for gas lamps. It only states which standard they must comply with--ANSI Z21.42--and then says you must go by the manufacurer's installation instructions.
The only installation requirement in the applicable code section says you can't support the fixture by means of the gas piping, but nothing regarding clearances.
I agree - an inspector will want to see the manufacturers specs. If they are old as the hills then I'd be trying to find a modern equivelent and download the installation specs - although it isn't technically correct, it might make sense to an inspector who otherwise wouldn't have a clue.
What the others have said, but keep in mind that heat rises and gas lights put out A LOT of heat. I'd be nervous at 9" even.
