I am about to build a fence aroung our new house this weekend, and need some good design ideas for a trellis over the gate(s). Our house is brand new,but made to resmeble a craftsman-style. I am at a loss for a fresh design that will add a nice touch. (I wanted to make it my wifes’ V-day present.)

ok. This isn't craftsman, but what I would point out is that up top, on this pergola type gate are a couple of strips from front to back that were used to put potted plants on b/4 this womans vines reached full growth. They were dropped down and the top strips flanked each side keeping the pots from falling over.
Jeez, you make all us goofballs look bad with that much ambition. What do you do during the day that you have this much energy?

That was a good suggestion, I'll use the idea of the spacing up top.
I don't have a ton of ambition, I just want to get this stuff done so I can start golfing again once the weather turns... That's enough of a boost to keep me going, plus, I've put the nailbags down during the week in favor of becoming a Sup. Less physical stress but WAY more mental stress. I look forward to weekends when I can just put my head down and work again.l
