Hi Folks,
Trying to find out information on moving to the Miami area. More precisely, I have heard that in order to work in the Kitchen/ bath trade you need to be “licensed by the state”. (waiting for the laughter to die down…………….). Is this true?,if so where/how do you find out about testing and courses? This is a move that is being tossed around in the house, if it actually happens has yet to be decided, but it looks like a “I really want to go, be closer to the fam thing”
I am from the jersey area , can put in cabs, down tile, doors window and trim etc.
Can anyone shed some light?
Thanx in advance Ej

go to web site for licensening & regulation, per state. licenseing are a good thing, means better pay.

Don't laugh,
Becoming a certified hitchen designer is worthwhile, regardless of what the state requires. With all the new high tech appliances available it is hard to keep up and to make it all work out together.
Kitchens and baths are the most dangerous places in the house, unless you've got steep stairs. Notice how many regs there are on stair design? Pitch. railing shape. Height of rail. Balluster spacing.
Don't laugh too hard as in most counties in Florida, you're not pulling a permit for a job unless you are licensed. And if you're talking Dade County (thats where Miami is) you're talking about some of the toughest building codes in the state and even the country.
I'm in Tampa and licnesing thru the state requires a written test and cost about $500-750 per year taking the continuing eduaction requirements and such for renewing.

OOOOps!
Sorry folks didnt mean to ruffle feathers, I believe licensing is a good thing, I perhaps thought that some might think my question naive or downright silly! Anyhow, onward!
