Hi will be building a deck this summer and need some help with one part of it, for now anyways, more help is always possible. The deck will have gazebo 16′ across and I am having trouble figuring out how to attach the beam to the posts. I was hoping someone has some experience with this and may be able to offer some guidance.

Some more info would be helpful..... How far does the ridge beam span, what are the heights of the posts and what is the width of the structure? Do the rafters rest on a beam at the wall line? Here are some examples of common post-beam connections, as well as some other applications

Good Luck, post a little more info

You can find some insight into octagonal roof framing at The Digital Jobsite Blog here at finehomebuilding.com. Your gazeebo roof will likely be timber framed, not rafters as shown at TDJ, but I'm sharing these links in case you find something helpful in them.
Have fun with your summer project; work safely and enjoy the process!
