Looking for bidders on an architect designed shingle style home to be built in NW Connecticut. I would like someone to GC the project from concrete to close in (frame, siding, windows/doors, roofing)
If interested please reply and I will send more details.

What town is the house in?
Winchester Center- it is just south of Norfolk. About seven miles north of Torrington.
Architect designed? How about asking the architect to perform this added service and bill you accordingly.
A good architect does this for a "full service" job, but I get the feeling you are getting something less than full service.
I will qualify this by saying that this will only work if the plans are site-specific, that is, they were developed for the site, or at least have been modified to have things be site specific. Furthermore, the architect ought to be local.
Site-specific means that the details called out on the drawings will meet all local codes, and that the site topography and soil types are all considered in the plans.
Here is what the service should be from the architect:
Qualify a few interested bidders, put together the bid package of plans, specs, general and special conditions, and perform the RFQ, then help you analyze the bids.
Wouldn't that be better than just asking us strangers?
He is doing all of the above, and doing it well. However the builder he has in mind works mostly in southern CT and I don't know if he will be available for my time frame.
Since I regularly read posts on this site I have come to respect many of the contractors who participate I thought FH might offer a better class of builders than the yellow pages.
There are a number of great builders in our area (I live in Roxbury). Several that spring to mind are Churchill Builders in Kent or Cornwall, and Jim Picton in Washington. Hank Fotter in Litchfield is good, too. Tim Segerson in Roxbury, but he works more in Fairfield County. Bob Munson in Roxbury is high on the list. Contact Norwest Lumber in Cornwall Bridge. They're about my favorite lumberyard, and they should have some more recommendations.
I should warn you that all of the folks I mentioned are probably busy, and that you shouldn't expect them to be cheap. Expect to be charged for a price quote, as well.
And if you need advice on energy matters, drop me an email.

Thanks Andy. We have been talking to Jim Carr at Northwest and he has given me a couple of names, none that you mention as far as I recall.
I currently live in Bethany and am hoping to get the shell up before I put my house on the market, but my timing is very flexible other than that.
What sort of energy consulting do you offer? We are very interested in this topic, including: best insulation (icynene is material of choice at the moment) PV- possible installation on garage roof, wind generator is also a possibility.
Thanks again,
Doug
