Are Geocel sealants the same thing as Pro-Flex (the stuff I see at hardware stores)?
From scrapers to power strippers and infrared lamps, there are several methods for removing stubborn paint, each with different costs, time requirements, and health-safety considerations.

Thanks for asking. No, Geocel 2300 is a animal onto itself. 800% elasticity with memory, will stick to any surface, is paintable, DO NOT use it for a temporary fix that you want to take apart. This is the greatest construction sealant that I have used in my 40+ years in the building trades. The problem I find is that it is hard to find. I have had the opportunity to go back and check areas that I have used it 10-15 years ago and it is still there. Even to seal a crack in my sister-in-laws driveway (just because I had some black left in a tube) did that in '91 and last year it was still sticking, and this is in Michigan.
Ditto the thumbs up on Geocell

Glad to see that you enjoy the product too. Have read many of you posts and enjoy your incite.
I've never seen that in stores... roughly how much does it cost?
Matt
Matt,
it's roughly $4-$5 a tube.
I get it from roofing supply houses lumberyards.
Never seen it at Lowes or places like that.
Stephen
keep in mind that Geocel makes a couple different products.
What is most available to me is in a purple tube------ I think it's called geocel 2300
but I have a case of some geocel Proflex out in the garage right now. the proflex is about $1 more per tube---and a little stiffer. You can tool it immediately if you wet your finger with mineral spirits----but if you wait even a minute or two---it doesn't tool so good. I don't know if I would want to be squezzing the proflex out in 30 degree temps. says 50 year product life
the purple tubed 2300---a little thinner consistency----can get kind of "stringy" when hot----and when really hot can sag and run ---right back out of the joint you just put it in.----30 year product life, I think.
We use the 2315 in gallon cans. It is fibered and brushable. The 2300 is also avail in brushable gals.
35 bucks a gal or so from ABC supply. NEAT STUFF. Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

what do you use it for?
"there's enough for everyone"
Dave, I too used to get it in MI, but now can only buy it here thru Ace hardware by the case only. It's a great waterproofing material, available in clear (what I use) and a couple of colors. I brush it on the bottom 6" or so of garage service door jambs and brick molding cause they get so much bounced up rain water.Since it will not support mildew, I also brush or roll it on the flat tops of privacy walls built of CBS. The mildew (black) starts on the tops and then starts running down the walls. WaterShield stops that, and is similar to Proflex made for roofing.http://www.geocelcorp.com/
I've got a leaky water dump tank (sumerges 20 bushel boxes of apples, allow them to float out and enter the line) - would this product seal pinhole leaks and protect the tank from the chlorine solution?
"there's enough for everyone"
Seals up to and 1/8th hole IIRC.
I think it would be fine for that.
Probly not much better product out there. Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks
David, spent the cost of a call and call Geocel and talk toa tech person. That's what I do when possible new applicatoins come up. Maily ask them about the chlorine.
We recently had a metal roof that needed new box gutters ( and a roof).
Due to finances the owner wanted to wait on the new metal..so we bent it back, tucked the new gutter liner under, flattened it out and riveted it all tite.
Brushed two coats on there and it will buy them some time. Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks
Geocel is by far the best caulking we've used. We did a tear off of LP siding to reside the house, and we had to cut all the caulking to do it. And this stuff didn't cut real well.
We have to order it, but it is good stuff.
