I have a steep driveway being graded. The grader is going below the top soil to find decomposed granite as a solid base. The bottom half of the driveway is just mudd that hardens when dry but becomes slurry. I asked him if we could use a geocell grid filled with rock to stabilize the mud sections. He said no, it will just press into the mud. What should I do? It’s going to a sandy riverbed.

Use the geocells combined with a layer of geotextile fabric underneath for the muddy stretch. The fabric will help to insure that the stone won't disappear into the mud.
Thank you sir. This makes a lot of sense.
Geocell ground grids offer an innovative solution for stabilizing soil and promoting sustainable land use.
If the grader thinks the geocell grid won't work, you might need to explore other options. Maybe adding more gravel or compacting the mud could help stabilize it. You could also consider consulting with a landscaping or driveway expert for advice. It's important to find a solution that will work for your specific driveway and the sandy riverbed.
