Just like most everyone else business is slooooow. I’m trying to think of some cost friendly ways to get my name around my home town and surrounding areas, being that these areas are my bread and butter. Middle class, 40/50 year old homes, etc. First things I have done are letting everyone I meet know what I do, hand out a business card. Second is I got a nice big lawn sign which is put up at the jobs. Third I’m going to sponsor my daughters t-ball team which will put my name on their shirts. That’s it so far. Next I’m thinking of lettering my truck so it’s seen at all the sporting events, parking lots, parks, and so on. Might get an add in the church bulletin. Also I’m thinking of getting more t-shirts printed up with a color that will stand out and be noticed and wear them all the time. Get rid of all my other shirts and sweats (just kidd’n).
Like I said trying to keep cost low. Anything else work for you guys?

Don't forget to contact pass clients. Cheap and easy, give them a call and ask how the past project is holding up. many times leads to new jobs.
Check out "Guerilla Marketing" online or get one of the books. good stuff
Any of your local businesses have bulletin boards where "for hires" can post?
Our local pizza joint has one.
When I was starting out, I used to pin a half dozen business cards up there every now and again.
That was, hands down, the most cost effective advertising I have ever done.
I would estimate that 9 out of 10 calls I received back then directly resulted from doing that. (It's also easy to see how many folks are actually noticing your ad, as you will need to replenish the cards....with other forms of advertising, you have no idea)
On the other hand...the biggest waste of money I was ever talked into, was placing an ad in the local Yellow Pages. After the first year was up, I had received exactly one call. It was a competing phone directory trying to sell me ad space. I don't recall the cost....few hundred dollars(?)....but never again.
