I was over at a clients house today to repair a glass shower door that had slipped out of the top wheel clamp. Another problem was noticed and that was the towel bar was loose in the holder. There are no screws just a rubber seal on the glass and a press fit for the holder. A phillips screw is backed up against the glass and is loose that is what holds the towel bar itself. My problem is trying to get the press fit off the glass without prying against the glass. Any ideas?

Mahalo, I was wondering if any saw it. I think the rubber spacer on the handle it just frozen on with time. It is just a friction attachment and I can't pry against the tempered glass. New doors maybe?
Hoohuli
Definitely don't pry against the glass. Small block of wood and a hammer. Lay the wood flat on the door and tap with the hammer, it should break it loose. We do it this way all the time. The glass should be tempered and is much stronger than you think. You may need to get another piece of thin rubber and use that when you replace the handle. It think it dries out over time and causes the handle to slip. Good luck!

...cut from an old bike tire tube?
sounds like it would work great
Mahalo,
I'll give it a try as soon as I find some rubber to replace it with, and she agrees with the attempt and the risk.
