A client wants a glass pocket door…10mm thick, 3/0 6/8. They say they’ve seen a hardware system that will fasten to custom made sheet of tempered glass…anybody ever heard of such?
Thanks

I'm doing a glass sliding door and we got the hardware from Hafele, I believe
Check them out
Thanks Barry, they've got plenty!...Which system did you use? For a frame or frameless? Outside of the gates the trucks were unloadin',
The weather was hot, a-nearly 90 degrees.
The man standin' next to me, his head was exploding,
Well, I was prayin' the pieces wouldn't fall on me.
frameless. Haven't actually installed them yet but the doors will be about 8' by 8'

Whoa, that's some big doors...if you get a chance I'd love the model number of what you're using...you'd better post some pics of the project, too...Glass Menagerie?<G> Outside of the gates the trucks were unloadin',

It's the hawa jr 80/gsit looks like it's the same track as they use in the heavier pocket doors with different rollersI started some pics of this job over in the gallery but haven't updated it in a while. The lower part of the addition has a glass curtain wall and the upper deck has glass rails.they seem to like glass. :)

Thanks, the 40 gs looks like the ticket...how'd you handle the handles?<G> Outside of the gates the trucks were unloadin',

Not handling it well at all.If I remember, the glass shop is grinding the fingerpulls into the glass itself

No latches?
( Ever seen ADA rated pocket door latches?----Guess I'll check Haefle , but thought I'd throw it out here too....)
No latches on the glass, We have 5 pocket doors on this job but they don't have to be ADA.I haven't run into any latches like that, but there must be something out there

Neither have I, and I have a feeling I'm about to see a VERY embarrassed architect.....
It's a long story, but the bottom line involves a less than 3'0" rock to rock opening, inside the proposed pocket are various stacks & sprinkler lines & other things, the original spec. was to use a 3'0" door which would stick out 6" from the split jamb when open so surface mount pulls instead of the typical recessed pocket door hardware could be used. (Which begs the question of why these guys didn't realize that you can set the door-stop inside the pocket wherever you feel like it!!!)
Did I mention that the pocket isn't in a stud wall, but in a bulkhead, and no one seems to have thought about how the slot, which would ordinarily be the usual split jamb & casing, gets trimmed & cased.
We've got six of these in a stack......glad I didn't vet the prints.......
Finally got it done, well my end...still needs a painter's touch. Thanks for the HAWA Jr tip...pain in the rear, butt it works<G> Someone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press
Whoever it is I wish they'd cut it out but when they will I can only guess.
They say I shot a man named Gray and took his wife to Italy,
She inherited a million bucks and when she died it came to me.
I can't help it if I'm lucky.
Looks great, I like the wood edge. You're way ahead of me I'm still waiting for the 2nd panel to come in. It's 5' x 8' and they chipped the first one trying to deliver it.Mine is all exposed, no pocket, so maybe it will be easier.

Same job had a pair of 4x8', beautifully veneered slabs for converging pocket doors, damaged so badly in delivery that we can't use them...new ones are only 5 weeks out<G> Someone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press

Looks great. Exellent work. How about seeing if FHB will feature a how-to? Lots of people will be interested.
Thanks To, but it was mostly a matter of trying to decipher the instructions...well, that and the patience to wait for all the right stuff to show up<G> Someone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press

Very cool! Thanks for showing it.
There's also two other pocket doors like this...very nice, and heaaaavy. And here's some more ammo for your designer's cannon... the hole is in the living room, leading into the owner's closet...bettern moth balls?<G> Someone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press
