Couldn’t decide whether to post this in Feedback or here. Just a dumb question from a non-construction type.
In the Homes issue one of the homes used crushed glass from the Seattle recycling program instead of gravel under the concrete slab. I was wondering how that works? How do you compact such a thing without ending up with glass powder? Or am I wrong that the gravel under a slab needs to be compacted?

builder i know used glass for backfill under garage slab, warned not to as it won't compact and it moves, but it was free and they were right, cracking slab few years later also saw it used as filler in asphalt on a walking trail, migrated to top of pavement, bad place to fall oughta make bottles out of it
