I think it’s time to go live……….. Since the Powers at Be have seen fit to fork over the big bucks for new software, maybe we could talk them in a live chat room? Just think for the fun we could have then!!!

Joe, and recapture some of the flair and panache the old pages had? Cool. (showing my age).
Could have said Far Out...Man.
*. . . uhhh,. . . groovy?
*I think its bitchin'
*George, et al,Really....was the old-site THAT much better? I'm new here.Brian
*I don't know Joe! Could this become another form of air-to-air combat?? The current method, along with the sluggishness of the internet, allows responders to sit back and take a more refined and scholarly approach....hhmmmm, it would be fun though wouldn't it?...........
*Come on, lets face it guys. The Ideal thing is to have both. A live chat group for those who are fast on thir feet, or just like the live challenge, and then, this forum for those that feel more comfortable here. We all put our feet in our mouths but it would sure be nice to talk in a live environment. Bottom line is it's a great place to swap ideas and experience.
*This thing takes up to much time as it is. I would go broke and the wife would take whats left.
*Amen!
*How about calling ourselves and "Think Tank" or a research group and go for Govt. grants or extort money from industry groups. We seem to be fairly knowledgable (present company excluded). We could take turns compiling posts into research papers and press releases. At least this way we could make some money at this. Got to go, my wife caught me not installing the new hot water heater.
*If you go live, then does the transcript hang around somewhere to be viewed? These pages are probably read by a few more people than those doing the postings. Some of us might even learn a thing or two! (it happens...)Rich B
*Rich - my only experience with going live is a chat group on old houses using mIRC software and DALNET servers. (Don't ask - it was a plug and play experience and I don't know nothing about the details.) It is easy - just download software, install, and run. Click on chat group that your interested in and its live - or maybe a couple seconds delay. To my knowledge, no script or record is kept.If you want to try it at the one I have tried, email me and I'll give you detailed instructions (pretty simple really) and some educated guesses of when people will be there. You may be disappointed - discussion often ends up social rather than technical (How's the weather? What's your day been like? How are the kids?) But all you have to do is click the "X" and you're out of there! And soon I'll be offering a 12 step program to break the habit - as soon as I find it - just send me your credit card number......
*Hey Bill,I thought you learned your lesson with Fixer Upper! There are times when it would be nice to goe back and forth with thoughts quickly, though. I'm on AOL. My signon is mmoogie.Let me know if it's gonna happen and I'll be there, at least until my wife gets wind of it...Steve
*Put me on interested list for live chat .....
*Why havent we seen a post from Sean the webmaster on this subject???
*Go to http://www.miningco.com and under business there is a construction section. At the bottom of this is a link to contractor chat. By the way I really love the Mining Co., cuts the search engine BS out
*how bout this:this new board does offer chat services (and given how much fun it is to keep the discussion working, i can only extrapolate and eagerly await the monumental technical challenge of maintaining a real-time chat),so after we upgrade our server (we'll be off and on today whilst we install our new monster computer), i'll run some tests and see what we can do.
*Gut it out sean..... think U might become addicted to chat too... contractors are a neat bunch in general.. especially the ones who will take the time to stop by for a few and chat to unwind from aggrivations of their day
