Ok, I need a semi-disposable 10″ slider..I had a HF and it was TOO disposable, total junk.
I spied the Kobalt at Lowes today..199.00$ it actually didn’t look THAT bad, single bevel, Ok, I am well versed in using a single bevel saw, hell I started out with NO bevel..just chop saws.
Anyway, its gonna get ruff and tuff treatment, not for super accurate interior stain grade trim, mostly out door elements of parapets and porch details..all paint and putty work, sometimes getting hauled up on scaffold and left there for days on end.
Headed back either tomorrow or Monday and will probably get it and beat it to death in the ensueing days..I’ll let ya know how it does.
I have not heard of anyone here that has one or admitted to having one..so here goes. (G).

Craftsman makes a couple of beaters in hat $$$ range too.
The best reward for a job well done is the opportunity to do another.
Why I woiuldn't be caught dead w/a craftsman saw!
I gave away a decent lil slider..imagine that.(G)Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

A buddy of mine bought that saw and we used it on a few cabinet installs, the detents were sloppy and the saw did not perform very well. We had trouble getting good miter joints and accuracy out of it. I'd recommend trying to see if you see a 8 1/2" older hitachi used(maybe Craig's list) I've seen them as low as 125-150 and they are a great saw.
Thanks. I had a first gen. Hitachi, they were good.
Like I said, this ain't for "pretty work", mostly just for odds and ends that are a PITA to do w/ a circ saw.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Nothing at all on CL around here, and I noticed that in 3 of our local Lowes the KOBALT sliders were out of stock frequently.
So like a total idiot I asked the tool guy if they were coming back in with any complaints. He said not a one was returned, and they are flying off the shelves.
A few days later they had 2, one display, one boxed..I took the leap..had a 25 off coupon with a sale over 250..needed some other stuff anyway, so I snagged it and Freud Avanti blade, just in case the stock blade was NFG.
Made a few test cuts in scraps, checked with my Starrett square and lo and behold, it's all dead nuts on. The detents are not sloppy ( or any worse than my Delta and Bosch) and generally for the $$$ its an OK saw.
Feels a little lite in britches what with all the plastic parts..but hey..basically w/my coupon it was 174.00$ I still have the stock blade on so far..I was just testing on cherry and it was adequately cutting.
Maybe your buddy got a funky one?Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Can't you get the entry level Dewalt for that much?
Maybe Recon?

I've not seen any 10'' sliders by DW anymore..I think they discontinued them. And Ridgid doesn't have one ( at least on-line, I wasn't near HD).
And I need this starting tomorrow, can't really go looking all over and waiting for shipping..
I don't want it for hi-end stuff, just general abuse with more capacity than a non-slider and not as heavy/expensive as my Bosch 12" slider.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks
