Good friends of mine need a new furnace for their house. They live in upstate New York, near Lake Ontario. They have hot water baseboard heat, and currently have some European super-high effiency one with a condensate pump that needs frequent replacement.
The only name I’m familiar with is Weil-McLain. I’ve got one in my house that I’m happy with. Any other recommendations?

Why not just replace the condensate pump with a better quality one?

brunderhause (sp) is a good one...

They're looking for something in the mid- to upper 80% efficiency range. But more importantly, they're looking for something that won't break down in the middle of northern NY state winters <G>
the Viessmann or the Brunderhaus...
upper 80% not so likely.. low 90's is more like it...

I am unacquainted with the Brunderhaus (sp) line so I can't comment. But the Viessmann boilers qualify for a 30% federal tax credit. Of course, the other may also. I just don't know. But any boiler that delivers better than 90% efficiency should qualify.
the Triangle Tube Prestige Solo seems to be a very reliable boiler. but the people to ask this question of are the local installer/servicepeople. since they are the ones supporting the equipment, their preference should matter most of all. it sounds like their problem is the condensate pump, not necessarily the boiler?it's pretty rare that downgrading the boiler in this day and age makes sense. Dropping 10% on an afue rating doesn't mean a 10% increase in fuel.. it can often be a much bigger difference.-------------------------------------

Not to be picky but a furnace is hot air, a boiler is hot water.

BTW...
is it the condensate pump that needs replacing all the time???

I got bad info. The one with the condensate pump that needed frequent replacing was the BOILER (see? I can learn) before the one he has now.
This one has some other kind of recurring problem.
I told him to use what his installer recommends and services. Especially since he lives 250 miles away, and I really don't want to get much more involved <G>
tell him to change service tech...
and invite him to take you fishing for yur troubles...
