Sorry for the location confusion. Rasconc got it right, its Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area, central NC. Our shop is in Raleigh. We would go to Cashiers for a big enough project but would lose some of our shop capabilities. We would just stay for a few weeks or work something out. Probably stay during the week and return to Raleigh on the weekends. We have done many bigger jobs at the coast, and a few really nice outdoor structures (pergolas, decks) in and around Chimney rock and Boone.
Most here ( NC) should realize where the Triangle is, more commonly referred to as Research Triangle though. You did not do bad. There are places being built where the second poster asked about that might be worth your travel though. Lots of $1mil things going on.
You are not the guy that does the State Emp CU work are you?

No, no state emp credit union work. Just high end carpentry, and custom woodworking projects.I will always travel for the right work, the kind that you can actually use your skills and enjoy what you are doing. There is a lot of 1 mil plus here also just most do not want to put anything into the nice materials or really good looking design. Every one in this area wants painted mdf moldings and particle board cabinets. They put the 1 mil into the shear size of their house instead of investing in quality.Dont want to make a generalization, but it sure seems that way sometimes.
All our work is in the Cashiers area, all multi million res. A Lot Of Work!!
