I installed a ceramic tile floor this weekend with a silver colored grout – today i noticed a white powder on the surface of the grout. This is only the second tile job i’ve done, but the first one didn’t do this – I thought I did everything the same, following the instructions on the grout pkg.
Has anyone run into this? Is it a big deal, or something that will stop after a few washings?
Thanks, Bill.

Someone will probably tell me I'm wrong but my experience is that you have to wash the tile and then rub it dry with towels to remove all the grout haze.
Wait, is the powder on the whole surface or just the grout lines?
Hi - I rubbed off the grout haze the day after i installed it. Now the white powder is appearing just on the grout ... Bill.
good chance the griut was to wet...
keep rubbing with a dry towel..

WOW!!! What a Ride!
What IMERC said. It should go away before too long.
I've run into that problem. Google "efflorescence" BEFORE you wash the grout again. The advice given above is right with respect to haze, but efflorescence can be a bitch.
