guess i’ll be wanted in CA

ponytl | Posted in General Discussion on March 1, 2009 02:01am

I buy all my CFL off ebay…  bulk   you can usually buy em for less that $1 ea delivered  sometimes as little as 50cents…

so i get 100 on my door step today… they are for my lofts but i opened the box to grab a few for the house…

they have a big sticker on them “this price includes a discount courtesy of EDISON”

sale or use outside of CA is prohibited…. program is funded by CA utility customers..

OK..  if the discount is courtesy of EDISON.. ..  but it’s funded by it’s customers… are they not say’n…

I’ll charge you more for your electric… then with that money i’ll buy a bunch of CFL.. and sell them to you at a discount…

is this how they do things in CA? after adminstrative costs hve you not paid 75 cents to get a 50 cent discount?

anyway.. thank you CA utility users for helping to fund my use of CFL’s…

guess you have to see the humor is someone get’n these and sell’n em on ebay…

guess they only want the CA part of the planet saved <g>

oh yeah thebulbs were made in china…

p

They couldn't afford to get to Memphis, what with their bankrupt state and all.At least they're saving the world with CFL's?

My guess is that those particular Ebay bulbs fell offa the back of a truck. Ebay seller is a thief or party to theft.

chances are he's just buy'n the discounted bulbs.. and resell'n em...   they are discounted because they are partly funded buy the rates of CA utility payers...

      for which i thank them

CA leads the country in Green idiocy & bankruptcy.

Good to know someone is benefiting.

As far as I know all CFL bulbs are made in China.

PG&E figures that a certain amount will end up outside their service territory, but it's just another in a long list of reasons why we ratepayers get hit w/ high utility bills in the People's Republic of California......

why does this story remind me of several stories I heard from Russians back in the old Soviet days of black marketeering?

:)  don't know  why?   i've been try'n to find out exactly how much these bulbs were sold to the great people of CA...

if it sounds too good to be true to the masses... it's usually a deal i'd be interested in...

the first rule of business is... you make your money buy'n....  sales price is always controlled by the market...

if i'm willing to buy a tractor trailer load of 4000 just to get the 200 that i need... IF i believe i can sell or trade the 3800 i don't need to where it helps me... i'll do it everytime...

      risk... reward

with information... the risk drops and the reward can be there

"i've been try'n to find out exactly how much these bulbs were sold to the great people of CA..."A package of 6 were given free by Southern California Edison to low income families as a scheme to reduce energy consumption by those who can afford it least and who cannot afford the high up-front cost of CFL's. Edison charged ratepayers a small fee on every bill to pay for the program then bragged about how environmentally concerned they are. BruceT

LOL i feel better ... now i think i got bulbs from the crack dealer...    I know in memphis I use to get the Cheese.... damn good GOV cheese... some of my customers would give me 10lb blocks...  guess it wasn't velvita...

dude that had em listed on ebay... posted "buy as many as you want" i got  100...  but he still has ads on ebay...  so maybe he got a truckload in trade for an old buick...

:) redistribution of wealth...  you have to love it

Those would have come out of southern CA since Southern California Edison serves down there.

Since I'm in northern CA (PG&E service area), I didn't pay for your CFL's - but if you score some that say PG&E, I'm gonna be pizzed. - lol

Speaking of China, I got a couple of cloth shopping bags from my local ACE Hardware yesterday and the manager and I were cracking up about the label saying that they were made in China. Should I use them or drop them off at a local toxic waste recycler? - lol
