I came from a thread that was closed after 111 posts of which I was the last one and I feel guilty as hell about something but im not sure what . So I decieded to come to Const. Techniques and maybe add something positive of my building experiences.I would like to talk about application or fasting of house wrap and felt paper After having tried lath strips that have to be removed , cap nails that can cause problems later and staples that tear through felt and staples that Tyvek seems to pop off without warning,I started several years ago ” sewing” these products on by useing nylon string and my H2B slap stapler . For instance I put down a run of felt and go back and staple the string to the felt and roof I work 1 inch up from the bottom lap one horizontal about 6 inches down from the top and zig zag the field. Ive had felt exposed to high wind for 8 months before shingles and housewrap exposed for over a year while wating for the homeowners “subs” to shingle and side. Ive never lost any wrap our felt. If you try it part of the enjoyment is watching the crew down the road trying to figure out what you sre doing and seeing them do it on their next house.

Good one! I bet it's even easier with an air stapler, which I've got. Nylon string here comes in yellow, pink and white. I can do a design up there! You think I'm making fun of you, but I'm not. I've been teaching myself Swedish Weaving, a kind of needle work. I can use the same design techniques on the roof. If I secure the proper string and it comes out pretty I'll take a picture and post it before I start the shingles.
