Well, for starters McFeeley’s Hardware is selling extra-long, square-drive screws designed to replace those long spikes used for gutters. They should hold really well; you still have to use the spacer inside to keep the gutter from collapsing, but that is another story.
If you are looking for saddles that mount onto the facia board, and then the gutters snap in — well, I have seen them many places including Menard’s and Home Depot. [I only went there with a friend ]

a fascia hanger is standard.. and are designed to be used with a screw... when they are doing guters for $2 / foot they arn't going to spend any time so they use a nail instead..
every gutter mfr. has a screw on fascia hanger.. they also have the bar hangers for hanging from the roof..
gutter supplies can usually be had at a supply house that handles vinyl siding and roofing products..
*I can swear that I saw a real nice looking product, that is a hidden hanger with a long screw to fasten it to the facia, in FHB. Matter-of-fact it is in issue #125 (Aug-Sept 1999), page 99.Pete Draganic
*Company name, Pete? (I'm not real organized about back issues ... if only they had a CD....)Even the place-we-dare-not-speak-its-name is now selling the McFeely's-type screws. Not sure who is cheapest/better. I like McFeely's but am starting to find the companies -they- buy their stuff from offer better deals. (For example, Swan Secure in Baltimore for ss screws?)
*It's an article called "all about gutters" and they do not specify brand names but show the various hanger types. I wish they did give more of that vital info though especially interesting would be cost of projects pictured in the mags.
*Barry, what you want is a product called the ODE HIDDEN HANGER.They mount inside the gutter,do not show from the ground, come with either a screw or a spiral shank nail and also in a couple of different profiles for tight spots. They work very well. A roofing and gutter supply house will carry them, but probably not a regular lumber yard.Good Luck All,Stephen
*Thanks, all.
*here's the varities of alum. gutter hanger we mostly use... notice that the spike and tube is NOT one of themthe one on the left and foreground is a fascia hanger..the middle is a bar hanger, and the long one is a roof hanger..the roof hanger is commonly used with a combination drip-edge/ hanger that hooks into the back of the gutter....
*Anyone use the (attractive I think) wrap-around undermount type I've seen for copper half-round? An unobstructed gutter would be awfully easy to clean.

I've checked the archives to no avail. Any suggestions for a good hidden gutter hanger to replace the ones with the nail into the fascia? I've seen them before -- they use a screw instead of nail -- but I can't remember where. Also a source?
Thanks -- Barry
