Out having some relaxing fun today. Just a few of the pictures I took.
Gravel pit….ditch running….cranking and bankin…..the last one is my stairshop….the climbing and turning that goes on down there makes my climbing and turning at altitude possible. <G>

Great pics..nice weather looks like spring is around the corner..your shop location is perfect, looks like you have much privacy and space. Man that looks fun! stinky
Those are great views Stan. Would you post a picture of the bird in flight from the ground? If you already posted one, please let me know. Ill look for it.
Heres one on the ground I took when I flew to Champaign, Il.
I posted an inflight view not long ago.
You're gonna need help for the pic he wants. He wants a pic from the ground of you flying by. Let dw know when you're gonna go by and have her take a pic. :)

Heres a picture of it flying by. The second one was right before touch down.

Stan, What are the functions of the stick in the gyrocopter. Does it have rudder pedals?
Bo: It has rudder cables. The rudder is basically used to just line up straight with the runway.
The cyclic stick controls the rotor by tilting the disc plane the direction you want to go. You fly the rotor.
Its a lot more complicated but I will try to explain. A rotor is just like a big gyroscope. The law of precession causes the rotor disc to tilt 90 degrees later from where on the disc the force is appied. The rotor is turning counter clockwise when looked at from above.
So if a force is pushing up at the 3 o'clock position...the rotor disc will react 90 degrees later...and thus will lift at the 12 o'clock position....tilting the rotor back.
When you move the cyclic stick backwards....you are increasing the pitch of the blade at 3 o'clock...and decreasing the pitch at 9 o'clock. The rotor "flies" or precesses to the new position resulting in the disc being tilted up at the front. Its kind of like power steering being applied to the rotor disc. It is real amazing to watch...and to feel in flight.
You basically just fly the rotor. The gyrocopter can slow to 0 mph and descend vertically under full control....even spinning like a top which ever direction you apply the rudder. You just give it forward stick to fly out of the vertical descent....
Theres a lot more to this....I will explain as needed.

This may be an obvious, dumb question, but do you need a pilot's license to fly that? Or do you learn on your own? I'm no pilot so I'm intrigued. It would seem to me, the layman, that you are flying a helicopter, and would therefore need training. But I have seen ultralights when I was a kid and it seemd to me that people were flying those without a license. Is this something similar?Just curious.
You do have to have a pilots license to fly my gyrocopter. I also have to been licensed in that particular craft to take passengers as well.

Stan, seems like you should just make a gyro FAQ thread. You tend to get the same 10 questions every time you post gyro pics. Post a thread with the answers to the top 10 questions, and you can just link folks back to it rather than answering the same 10 Q's every time.
How does it fly, how fast, how far, how high, do you need a licence...etc, etc.
And of course, you'd have to include some of your favorite pics :)

Looks like a few folks are getting rid of their gyros. None is as nice as Stan's though:
