I was looking at installing a lake loop geothermal heating/cooling system for my soon to be built home when a friend pointed out that this Hallowell system was just being introduced and tested.
I live in Winnipeg Canada where we regularly get weeks of -35 so I initially thought he must be mistaken since this is an air source system….
and yet…
I read the material on the site and it SAYS it can handle my climate. It would I assume be much cheaper (Geothermal estimate is $30000) and simpler!!
Does anyone out there have experience with these or know of them, good or bad?

The owner is being sued by his former employer for taking technology with him and marketing it on his own.
Would that lawsuit have an impact on the current operations of the company; I mean can they supply and install equipment and if I got one could I get it serviced in the future? If he wandered off with the technology and started selling it on his own the parent company must (?) be selling it too under another name!Do you know if its available elsewhere?
Several years ago, the product was marketed as the Cold Climate Heat Pump (CCHP), by Nyle Specialty Products, in Bangor. I had a long chat with Hallowell several years ago. Interesting product. I don't know what happened that resulted in the splitup. I saw an interesting thread on this product on another forum somewhere.
