Howdy,
Want to buy a quality hammer drill for ~$225. Used for chipping concrete and drilling 7/16″ holes ~ 3″ deep in concrete.
1) didn’t FH have a “recent” edition with reviews on hammer drills?
2) any recommendations. Thinking “Bosch 7/8″ SDS Rotary Hammer Kit” ~$ 219 w/ bits.
TIA, Monacobeachbum

I believe I should call it a Rotary Hammer, not a Hammer Drill.

How often do you plan to use it?
Only reason I ask is if your going to use it a lot I would spend a bit more and get a slightly heavier duty one. Bosch makes a good one,
I can't remember the exact model off hand that we use at work, it was about 450 or so. Our plumber uses a dewalt, seems to work well for him when he needs to get into a slab. View ImageGo Jayhawks
Several times a year. General home construction projects, not commercial. Ordered the 7/8" SDS D handle Bosch from Amazon ($219) this afternoon. Also want us it to break up clay soils.
Ah several times a year I would say not spend the extra money, everyday use the extra power and size is nice.
Hope you like itView ImageGo Jayhawks
I have a 20 year old Stanly Industrial ... works great, but that was when Stanley meant quality.
My main reason for this post is to caution you on the bits. I have a full set of Bosch Hammer Drill bits. They may have good hard tips on them but I find them useless, because they have a good hard round smooth shaft on them. They loosten up in the chuck every time. Can't get them tight. Some day I'm going to grind some flats on them so I can use them.
get the Bosch Bulldog reconditioned ...tool crib has them for under $200.
I think around $180 or so.
