any new feedback on so-called vibration-damping hammers??? I asked a few months back about Stanley versus Estwing… do they actually reduce vibrations?? appreciate any feedback… Tuna

I've got a 20 oz. Stanley that seems to be pretty comfortable, but it's really more a backup for my stilleto. The light weight is better for the tendonitus.

I've noticed a real difference when using a wood handled hammer.  For me, they just "feel" better.

stilletto is the way to go.  if the handle breaks, they'll send you a new one for the goose.  Then again, I love my nail guns too!

    Hey Tuna
I also have two Stanley anti-vibration hammers, they workwell.
But.... I now have seen the light. I own a 14oz wooden handle Stilletto hammer. Hands down if you have not tried one you are missing out. they work great.
Can't wait to someday own the all titanium model with rubber grip and removable face.
    hope this helps.

    Ray.

use tennis racquet grip tape on a wooden handle hammer (i love my douglas, but have never tried the stiletto).

I have a Douglas. It hangs on the wall after I got  a Stilleto. Stilleto also sells a handle wrap kit that's really nice.

I've got a whole bunch of hammers riding the pine after I got my Stilleto's.  Bought the 14oz wooden handled one and broke 4 handles in 8 months.  Decided to buy the 15oz TiBone great hammer,  makes great roast beef too,  out of my fingers that is.I only golf on days that end with a "Y".

Not sure,  I carry a cats claw in my bags.  I broke one pulling a nail out of a yellow pine stringer.  Other than that I haven't got a clue.  Not sure if wood handles like the winters around here either,  thats when they seem to break most.

I use hockey stick tape on my wooden handle hammers,  it's cheaper and I can pretend to be one of the Hanson brothers in Slapshot they rule!I only golf on days that end with a "Y".

Ok last one. This thread has been hijacked and slammed head down into the boards.

The breaktime referee is going to issue a game misconduct. You can't put a bounty on a man's head. We could all get thrown in the clinker for this."Are you guys brothers?"

anyone know where I can get a replacement wooden handle for a hammer like this?  http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product2_6970_200252224_200252224

          15. Stilletto | May 28, 2006 01:57am | #21

If your hammer is a Vaughn call them and tell them you like their hammers and want to continue using it.  They usually will send you one ASAP.  Call the person who makes the mallet is my best guess.  I called Stilleto every time and they sent me a new handle each time.I only golf on days that end with a "Y".

re your tag line:  FSF would also acknowledge that a little whiskey helps in that department.

    Hot Tuna, I presume.

I have one and can't tell the difference.  Maybe I'm using my pneumatic tools too much.
