Our rebuilt kitchen will have a breakfast bar or pass through between the kitchen and the dining room. How do I hang or support the upper cabinets. The end of the cabinets will be about 6 feet from the adjoining wall.

Attic space above- Open above the cabinets to the ceiling. frameless cabinets, "Mills Pride" from Home Depot, so I assume modular. There will be access to both sides. and support to c-top is possible.
I am going to glue and screw a 3/4 piece of plywood between the studs on the wall that the cabintets start from.
*I have a similar situation as yours. I Bought some decorative spindles; drilled a 1/4" or 3/8" hole through the whole length. I reinforced the top of the cabinet and added some length of 2x6; spread over 4 of the ceiling joists. Drill the same size hole in the top of the cabinet and in the ceiling through the installed 2/6 previously mentioned. Buy some all-thread, flat washers, and nuts. Run the all-thread through the spindles, then install the flat washers, and nuts. I have had mine installed for 3 or 4 years. Looks good and lasts a long time.
