we just moved in to a new house and don’t have enough storage for our pots and pans, the large ones take up so much room that there is no room for the smaller (every day) pans, we are looking at a hanging rack to go over the island but have not found any that are functional. Seems the ones offered are “for decoration only”, any ideas on where to look will help. we even looked in to having one made ($500.00 was the cheepest), and did not look like it would look right in the kitchen, too big and ugly.

Why not make your own? A hanging pot rack is a pretty easy project and you can probably design one that would go with your kitchen and cost less than $100 in materials. Just a thought.

Look on potracks.com (part of a larger kitchen accessories website, which I found when they advertised in Fine Homebuilding), which carries a number of different lines. Most of their potracks seem functional, and many of the prices are much better than you're quoting. You could also search elsewhere on the web for the same manufacturers listed on potracks.com, and perhaps find better prices. We used a potrack for nine years in our previous home and loved it. When we build, we will certainly put one in.
