for a year they have never had one in stock… while i was there… sunday i picked one up… $39.. got it for a raincheck price of $29… tried it out on a few cuts… seems to do what it is supposed to do… and appears it will take blades from other manufacturers…
kinda fun to cut 1″ sq holes in the center of a 1x…
if i find a good use for it 2x it’s paid for itself…. it doesn’t look or feel like junk

I bought one for $39. Already made one impossible cut, a relief cut ro slide hardi under a window sill.
The window was incorrectly installed, so that the siding would just about slide in on one side, but needed about a quarter inch more clearance on the other. I cut a 5 foot long slice out of the bottom of the sill lickity split. The old siding just had a piece of quarter round covering the gap under the sill. Looks nice now.
Not to hijack your thread, but, does Harbor Freight only sell in stores?
I saw an ad and went online and it looks like they don't sell mail order or online.
I'm in New York City area and there are no stores around.
Did I miss something or are they stuck in the 1950s?
Thanks.
Of course they sell online. You're somehow missing something. Actually the prices shown are online only, something on sale online is not necessarily on sale locally, but they will match it if you copy the ad.
They sell online.I've bought online, several times, myself, because for one, the local store is too far away, and for another, sometimes they have stuff online, that the local store simply doesn't stock.http://www.harborfreight.com/..I'm not worried, I'm curious...You are always welcome at Quittintime
I clicked on the link and there it was. Upon further investigation the ad I had torn out of the magazine had the url as http://www.harborfreightusa.com.
I checked that site again and there is no online ordering. I assume they are the same company - I can't see anyone trying to steal their "good name".
Thanks for the info - I wanted to buy a cheap angle grinder for some tile work and the ad showed one for $16.99. I figure if it lasts for the 1 job I am satisfied not ruining a good one.
harborfreight.com is the mail order division, harborfreightusa.com is the retail B&M division.
Well, that's cool, never heard of http://www.harborfreightusa.com. I have 2 stores close to home, so I don't order very often. I really like to see what I am buying, some stuff doesn't interest me after I see it in person.
Waaaaah! I want one, too. Why can't I find it w/ the link? Tried it & only got some laser device for $199!DonDon Reinhard

Luka: Ya know, I think I bought something that looks like that several yrs ago. Made by B&D or some other outfit. Don't think it has a half moon cutting tool, however. I'm gonna root around in my pile of worthless tools & see if I can find that sucker. Thanks for giving me that link.

I bought one and have only used it three times but it made the job.First time was on vinyl railing the homeowner bought. The stairs were too steep and the railing wouldn't bend enough. We notched every slot top and bottom and made it work. The width it oscilated was a perfect match to the slot.
Somebody suggested buying the router speed control unit they sell there. I have to get one. My store doesn't stock any blades other than the three pack of scrapers and one cutting blade. I was wondering what other blades would fit it.
I bought one at christmas. My son in law keeps borrowing it. I know what he is getting for Christmas!
it took me over 6 mo to find one at the store... might be different online... but they almost never get them in and then they don't stay long... i purchased the extra blades months ago... because they had them... which they have less of then the tool itself... i knew i get one... oneday :)
i've had my share of cheap tools... this thing really doesn't seem or feel "cheap" tme will tell... but my local HF is real good about replace'n anything broken or worn out... no questions asked

The local manager held one for me!
The tools there seem to be getting better. I bought a lathe there last month. Out of the box, it was off .003! Better than a lot of more expensive tools I have bought.
The online sales are more expensive than the in store sales, which is when I buy things. That and Wood mag. has a 15-20% off coupon lately. Makes that $5 subscription pay for it self. I love their cheap paint brushes as I can throw them away when my wife "forgets" to clean them. I have my good brushes hidden!
I was looking on line at HF web site the other day and it pop up, I said "can't be good and moved on" but if you guys are endorsing it I will have to get one if they have any.Wallyo
They had a pile of em at the store today. I bought a 4 ton hoist load leveler to help put an engine back in an Explorer. I think the Harbor Freight stuff is getting better. And I did buy a multipurpose tool (multimax) a short while back and I'm fairly impressed with the quality. It's not great, but a lot better than expected.
