Has anyone ever used hardened finish nails for trimming to metal studs, or will the standard 15 ga. nails work? The exterior walls are wood & int. are light ga. metal.

the 15 ga. work fine,
try to cross nail them for better holding power

Watch out for the edges, it's really fast out there...
don't think there is such an animal...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
15ga fired at 100psi will go through light metal studs like a sliver into your finger. Except sometimes the angled shots will curve back at you. You shoot a piece of straw fast enough and it will do the same thing. Ever seen the photos of the straw through the telephone pole after the tornado?
If you are not in a hurry you might consider trim screws. Just a little bigger hole to fill and they do hold fast.

I've only heard of people using regular gun nails for this. Never heard of "hardened" trim nails.
I've also heard of people adding a little PL to the back of trim when nailing to metal studs.
Good point about watching for nails curving back out. Keep your other hand well clear of the area when shooting!
