Anyone ever use Hardi plank siding to cover the perimeter foam of a slab on grade?
I’ve used synthetic stucco w/ fiberglass mesh and I have seen others use aluminum coil stock which just gets beat up.
Only about 3 – 4″ of the foam would be above grade. I thought a 6″ wide piece anchored through the foam into the slab @ pour might be a slick way of protecting the foam.

I'd use Azek or Trex trim board. Hardie can absorb some water.

There is a gas station in my town that used miratec corner boards and hardie lap siding to encase the structural columns of the canopy over the gas pumps. I was surprised to see that the miratec and the lap siding came down tight to the concrete - maybe there was about 1/8"-1/4" gap. As far as I am aware, Hardie's install instructions specifically point out to keep their products a specific distance away from grade, from roofing/shingles, etc. Off the top of my head, I think that distance is 2" minimum.
This construction is maybe 6-8 years old now. Not too surprising, the hardie is clearly being affected - at a minimum the prefinished paint is beginning to flake. I didn't poke around to determine whether the board itself was becoming soft/soggy. The miratec appears to be standing up.
I'd be real reluctant to use the product against the manufacturer's recommended installation techniques.
Could you have the finish grade installed so there is less foam exposed. Perhaps install a precast watertable/sill? It wouldn't have to be very large to visually hide the foam.

Thin and durable. Home Depot sells an Azec knock off in 1/4 inch thickness. Vic
