I recently looked into this possibility. I remember going to my local supply house and they had a nice little printed sheet from the manufacturer, complete with detailed diagrams, as to how to install this stuff on stucco. Haven't done it yet...but it's definately on my agenda soon. As I recall, we were gonna use concrete screws through 2x4's (laid on the flats) to act as a support system for the hardiplanks. Even though we're in southern California, we planned to afix 15# felt first. We were only going to go up partially on the exterior walls.
Good luck!
