View Image | We’re fortunate here to have two hardware stores. This is B. Rose’s which caters mainly to homeowners and local government. They have things that seem to have been lying in the same place since the 1950’s. The son of the original owner still has the place, but it’s up for sale. |

*View ImageJust across the street is Hoffman's which is mostly patronized by independent tradesmen. Fewer housewares here, but more lumber. The loud radio that's always playing drives me out of there after a few minutes. The stores are independently owned although they both belong to buying cooperatives. Rose's to Ace and Hoffman's to True Value. They serve a town of less than 10,000 residents. West Pointers and workers from Bear Mountain State Park also use them.
