Need a little help in a hurry. Have a parade of homes entry with the usual last minute madness- finishing all the fine details. I am afraid I will not be finished by the time they come to put a coat on the floor this afternoon. 3/4 “oak with lots of cherry inlay. Floors have already been sanded, stained and first coat of poly. Usually put 3 coats on. If I can’t get subs to work late, any suggestions for something I can do that would make the floors look more finished? I can put a coat on myself before I leave tonight, but judging is tomorrow anytime from 9 am on. Need floors to be dry and shiny by then. It was suggested that orange glow would shine them up, but I don’t want to do anything that will cause any trouble with putting the final coats on after judging. I have heard of an additive to poly that speeds up drying. what kind of time frame does that give me? Don’t want judges’ feet to be sticking to wet finish.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
by the way, anyone who hasn’t participated, we have found parade of homes- in spite of the inevitable last minute stress- to be a great way to show your product to potential clients. we have at least one presale, often more each year from the parade. The entry fee is well offset by the trade discounts. I had $1200 off on my lighting package and over $1000 on appliances alone- entry fee was $875
