Our house has 5 inch rift and quarter sawn white oak floors that need refinishing. The flooring specialist that came highly recommended has suggested either Glitsa or Bonakemi finishes. (Glitsa is an upcharge.) What are people’s experiences with these two brands? We have two small kids and a dog so durability and water resistance are important. That said, I would also like to find something that will bring out the best of the figure. Some of the boards actually have some curl to them in addition to the ray flecks and beautiful grain.
Thanks much.

Chris,
I've long been an advocate of a finish that is extremely simple and easy to do yourself..
It's safe as humanly possible.. You've been eating it all of your life (and feeding it to your kids as well). It's surprisingly durable and withstands my 150 pound dogs toenails even though he refuses to clip them <g>
There are a lot of myths and untrueths about it..
It's used by all the finest furnature restoration people on extremely expensive antiques because it brings out the real beauty of wood as nothing else will. It has shine and depth without looking plastic.
It was used for centuries on floors untill chemical comapnies came up with alternatives which in hind site aren't as good..
It goes on extremely fast, you can do 500 sq.ft. in two hours and much of that time will be standing around admiring your work. In another hour or so you are walking on it and you won't notice the smell two hours after you finish.. You can see pictures of it at 86920.13
It's called shellac 500 sq.ft will cost you about $50.00 to do and you can't make a mistake. Honest, with my method you can't make a mistake and it will look really professional..
Ask and I'll give you simple step by step instructions that you can't goof and will have a wonderful finish..
