You can guess the question.
Subfloor (over basement) = Advantech nailed and glued to joists
Joists run in the long direction of the house (side to side). Joists are 2×4 web joists 16 inches on center.
Wood floor = unfinished 3/4″ carribean pine probably 5″ – 6″ wide (nailed and screwed-plugged)
I would *like* to run the flooring parallel to the joists — actually i really need to.
Do i need to install 1/4″ plywood over the Advantech or is the Advantech itself enough support?

I could be wrong, but I can't imagine 1/4" ply will do anything more than raise the height of the finish floor. Never heard of "caribbean pine". Is this from a flooring manufacturer? If so, you might try asking them your question.
It's kind of a new growth heart pine.
